Ardgour Ales: A Sipping Tradition

History & Owners

Ardgour Ales is a family-owned gem that embodies the tradition of Highland hospitality. Established by the passionate and dedicated Fergus and Lizzie Stokes family in the early 2000s, the brewery has become a part of the local community fabric. The Stokes, inspired by age-old brewing techniques, aimed to capture the essence of the Highlands in every pint.

The Importance of Short Beer Miles

The concept of "short beer miles" refers to minimising the distance beer travels from production to consumption. This practice:

1. Ensures Freshness: Local beers are fresher and usually more flavourful, as less time is spent in transit.

2. Reduces Environmental Impact Shorter transport means reduced carbon emissions, benefiting the environment.

3. Strengthens Community Ties: It fosters relationships between local producers and consumers, creating a thriving local economy.

Supporting Local Business

Supporting local breweries like Ardgour Ales and River Leven Ales is a commendable stride towards empowering small businesses. When you choose local, you are:

Boosting Local Economy: Supporting local jobs and keeping money within the community.

Encouraging Traditional Craft: Upholding the art and science of small-batch brewing.

Enhancing Tourism: Offering visitors unique-tasting experiences they can't find elsewhere.

In an era where globalisation often overshadows local gems, enjoying local craft beers becomes a delightful act of community support and environmental stewardship. So next time you're near the Highlands, toast to these fine breweries and relish in the flavours of Scotland.
